Teresa M. Goody, Esq., MBA
Ms. Goody is a recognized authority in corporate governance, and securities and regulatory compliance. She has appeared as an expert on CNBC and Fox Business Channel, and is a lecturer at Georgetown University. Ms. Goody has published articles in leading professional and academic journals and texts on corporate governance, international commercial transactions, anti-corruption, and other topics of importance to C-suite executives.
Ms. Goody is the Founder and CEO of the international business consulting firm, The Goody Group LLC, and its law firm affiliate, Goody Counsel PLLC. Through the firms, she combines her expertise of corporate governance and regulatory compliance, with market forces strategies to guide businesses, particularly in times of change, growth, and crisis. She also assists companies obtain capital through equity securities offerings, and counsels companies on the new duties and obligations of being a regulated entity. Ms. Goody works with innovative financial technology companies and trade associations to resolve complex regulatory issues. She serves as an expert in court cases in corporate governance matters, to include fiduciary duties, and lectures at Georgetown McDonough School of Business on corporate governance, mitigating corporate risk, and entrepreneurship.
Prior to launching the Goody firms, Ms. Goody served as Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director at Kalorama Partners. In that capacity she undertook independent investigations for corporate boards of directors and counseled C-suite executives in strategic planning, securities law, corporate governance, and crisis management, with a focus on the financial services industry. She also served as personal counsel to Former SEC Chairman Harvey Pitt, and worked with industry leaders and financial regulators to improve regulatory oversight and enforcement. Before joining Kalorama, Ms. Goody was an attorney in the Office of the General Counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where she handled litigation on behalf of the SEC, whistleblower complaints, and high-profile internal SEC investigations.
Previously, Ms. Goody was a litigator at McDermott Will & Emery LLP and undertook complex civil and criminal cases and government investigations. She also gained a judicial perspective as a judicial clerk to Judge Urbina on the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Ms. Goody is a member of the Board of Directors and the Audit Committee of U.S. Youth Soccer, a member of the Vienna Business Association Board of Directors and Chair of its Public Policy Committee, a member of the Cornerstone Capital Group Global Advisory Committee, and a former member of the Finance and Audit Committees of Providence Hospital. She earned a JD from Georgetown University Law Center, an MBA from Georgetown McDonough School of Business, and a BS in Business Administration from George Mason University, and is a member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
